Green Solution to Temporary Parking

The owners of a private estate were looking for an environmentally friendly solution to provide them with a temporary access and parking. Using asphalt or concrete could have worked but would have been very expensive. With the help of the local Midwest Construction Products in Louisville, a time tested, reliable solution was implemented.

GRASSY PAVERS ™ provide soil stabilization, natural water filtration and drainage, assistance in storm-water management objectives, lower temperatures, reduced soil compaction, reduced need for expensive drainage systems, and are cost effective. This was the solution that was right for this project and right for the surrounding environment!

Using Recycled Materials within Gabions

The Jewish Reconstructionist Congregation's new building provided some unique situations regarding land space, using recycled materials, etc. With the construction of an entirely new building, the old building was torn down creating "unusable" brick and concrete. The owners and architects came up with an interesting way to decorate their sidewalks using the "wasted" materials.

Over the course of almost 2 years, Midwest Construction Products, the architects and the contractor discussed PVC coated gabions as decorative walls surrounding the new building and filling them with the old brick and concrete.

What is Flexamat?

Flexamat consists of concrete shapes, locked together with a high strength, polypropylene geogrid. There are openings around each concrete block that give Flexamat the flexibility and enable it to be packaged in rolls. The openings also allow vegetation to grow through the mat. Eventually, vegetation will completely cover Flexamat. It can be manufactured with various backings such as non-woven fabric to stop vegetation growth or a TRM (turf re-enforcement mat) depending on the soil conditions and other factors.
